“Even with perfect Wi-Fi, the heart is often ‘out of range.'”
— from the song “Saitei Kaiwai” by TSUKI
It is time to move from digital connectivity to true human resonance.
We live in an age of hyper-connectivity, yet we are facing an invisible crisis: deep-seated loneliness. We are technically “online,” but emotionally “disconnected.” We are here to help you bring your heart back in range, through the art of deep, intentional listening.

The Modern Paradox
There is a haunting lyric in a contemporary Japanese song that perfectly captures our modern condition: “Even with Wi-Fi, the heart is out of range.” We have optimized our devices, but we have lost our ability to truly connect with one another. We are surrounded by digital networks, yet we have never felt more isolated. We believe that the cure to this modern illness is not better technology, but a more intentional, resonant form of human interaction. We need to reclaim the “warmth” that technology cannot provide.

What is “MA-NA-ZA-SHI” ?
In Japanese, we have a beautiful word called Manazashi. It is much more than just a “look” or a “glance”—it represents the very posture with which you turn your attention toward the people and the world around you.
While Manazashi is one simple, unified concept in Japanese, we can break it down into three distinct powers in English to help you master it in your daily life:
- Listen: Hear the truth beyond words. By tuning into both others and your own inner voice, you gain the clarity to make choices that are truly yours.
- Observe: Notice the details others miss. By paying close attention to people and the spaces around you, you catch the important, subtle messages that others overlook. This awareness allows you to respond, follow through, and stay one step ahead in any situation.
- Feel: Sense what remains unsaid. People often hide what matters most, so the ability to sense unspoken emotions—along with the rhythm of nature, your own body, and even the spirit of the times—is vital. This deep resonance builds unbreakable trust and keeps you grounded, allowing you to thrive in both your personal and professional life.
Mastering these three powers changes how you relate to yourself, to others, and to the world. It is more than just learning a new skill—it is an upgrade to the very foundation of your life.

The MANAZASHI Framework: A Holistic Path to Transformation

True change is not a single act; it is the result of a holistic ecosystem. The MANAZASHI Framework is a multi-dimensional system designed to silence digital noise, restore your inner balance, and reboot the four essential pillars of your life:
- Relationship (Psychological Safety & Connection)
- Wealth (Work & Life Alignment)
- Soul Joy (Inner Bliss & Authenticity)
- Health (Physical & Mental Vitality)
A Multidimensional Approach
To navigate this framework, we utilize a series of curated modalities. While we begin with Mindful Listening as the foundational gateway to presence, our ecosystem extends far beyond:
- Awakened Listening: Our trademarked methodology that integrates psychological insight with Zen-based intuition to transform how you connect with others.
- Authentic Expression: Through tools like “Soul Writing,” we help you translate internal chaos into clear, creative purpose.
- Restorative Environments: We design spaces—from book hotels to community circles—that foster psychological safety and authentic dialogue.
- Adventure & Exploration: We use immersive, nature-based experiences (such as beach-side meditation and guided retreats) to break free from rigid routines and spark a fresh perspective on life.
The Foundation: Rooted in Living Zen While our approach is systematic and practical, its depth is anchored in the art of Living Zen. This foundation is drawn directly from the 40+ years of Zazen practice and life experience of our founder, MICHI. This ensures that our methodology is not a fleeting trend, but a timeless approach to human potential. It is this integration—of systematic psychological insight, intentional environment design, adventurous discovery, and MICHI’s (founder’s) lifelong wisdom—that allows you to not just “manage” your life, but to truly transform it from the inside out.
About the Founder
Michi Nagamoto — Creator of the MANAZASHI Method

The presence
MICHI is the founder of Manazashi Japan, an educator, and an author dedicated to restoring human warmth in a disconnected world. Through her 12 published books, over 30 lectures, and the creation of restorative spaces like the Hamahiga Bettei book hotel, she helps individuals silence digital noise and move from isolation to deep, soulful belonging. Her signature “Life Reboot” framework integrates principles of education and developmental psychology with the intuitive art of “Awakened Listening.”

The past
Her unique perspective is rooted in a lifelong duality. Born the daughter of a Zazen instructor, MICHI has walked the path of Zen for over 40 years. Yet, her journey was forged in the real world. In her twenties, she traveled the globe as a backpacker, including a transformative time volunteering at Mother Teresa’s house, where she witnessed the raw reality of human dignity amidst suffering. Upon returning, she immersed herself in the high-speed publishing industry, experiencing firsthand the relentless noise and digital disconnection that define our modern age. This duality—the profound peace of the cushion and the chaotic pulse of the world—forms the core of her work.
The future
Looking ahead, MICHI is driven by a singular vision: to heal the global epidemic of loneliness and division. She aims to expand the MANAZASHI training worldwide, fostering a future where people—regardless of their background—come together in circles to listen to one another with a warm, empathetic gaze. Her mission is to shift our collective culture from one of fragmentation to one of connection, ensuring that every individual, in every corner of the world, can experience the healing power of being truly heard.
